About the course

Vicarious trauma, also known as secondary trauma or compassion fatigue, refers to the emotional and psychological distress experienced by individuals who are repeatedly exposed to traumatic events through their interactions with trauma survivors or by engaging with distressing media content. It can have profound effects on one's mental well-being and overall functioning.

Practicing self-care is essential for individuals who work in fields such as healthcare, social work, or emergency services, as well as for anyone frequently exposed to distressing content. Engaging in self-care activities like mindfulness, exercise, spending time with loved ones, seeking professional support, and setting healthy boundaries can help mitigate the impact of vicarious trauma and promote resilience in the face of emotional challenges.
